Get ready for Office 365!

November 1, 2017

Information Services will soon begin upgrading the county to Office 365, a suite of productivity and collaboration tools from Microsoft.

Over the coming months, Office 365 will roll out in four phases.

  1. Office 2016 – Updated versions of the Office applications you use today (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote)
  2. Skype for Business – Replaces Sametime for instant messaging
  3. Outlook – Replaces Lotus Notes for email and calendar
  4. OneDrive – Replaces personal U: drives with cloud storage

The Office 365 project will begin in late November with the deployment of Office 2016, followed in early 2018 by Skype, then Outlook and OneDrive.

Over the next few weeks, IS will schedule each department’s upgrade to Office 2016 and you will receive an email with more specific information about what to expect during and after your department’s transition. Your department will also have an Office 365 Project Champion to help make sure you are aware of upcoming changes and anticipated impacts, and that you know where to access information and resources during the Office 365 project.
